The tools and knowledge to hack into telephone systems (PABX) and voicemail systems are freely available over the Internet.

Hackers might break into your system via:

  • the remote modem attached to your phone system
  • your voicemail system – in order to allow anyone to leave a message the system is exposed. It is possible to make voicemail very secure and this is our expertise. 90% of voicemail systems in Australia are insecure.
  • a system called direct inwards system access
  • your Interactive Voice Response system (eg; press 1 for sales, 2 for accounts, etc)
  • your systems Voice over IP capabilities (nearly all telephone systems shipped today have some Voice over IP capability)

Once they are in what can they do? Go to risk to find out.

Clients who call us in for a security audit are often shocked to find how insecure their telephone systems are when they spend so much time, effort and funding to secure their IT systems.
